Planning for college? Start here. These are the steps we recommend for every Oakridge High School student:

TALK TO YOUR COUNSELOR

Meet with your school counselor or the college adviser at Oakridge High School. They can help you explore options, plan your courses, and find scholarships that fit you.

COMPLETE THE FAFSA

Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov. It’s the key to unlocking federal grants, loans, and work-study, and many scholarships require it.

FIND MORE SCHOLARSHIPS

Check the OHS Counseling Center scholarships page for local and regional opportunities updated throughout the year.

MUSKEGON PROMISE

The Muskegon Promise Scholarship provides qualifying graduates a scholarship for a free associate’s degree or certificate at Muskegon Community College or Baker College.

PAYING FOR COLLEGE

Many OHS students are eligible for Michigan’s Tuition Incentive Program (TIP), which provides college tuition assistance to qualifying students. Check the official Michigan Student Aid page to see if you qualify — don’t miss out on money for college!

Filing the FAFSA at studentaid.gov is how you access federal Pell Grants. If you’re eligible, this is free money for college, so complete your FAFSA!
